i've been looking in the mirror for so long
THAT I'VE COME TO BELIEVE MY SOUL'S ON THE OTHER SIDE
Eleanor Mae Walbrecht Twenty-Six Kristine Yeo
Ellie has lived in Hollow Falls for her entire life. The youngest of three girls, she was the only child who never had huge dreams of leaving the town. After high school, her sisters went off to colleges in big cities. Ellie stayed home. After her father suffered a stroke three years ago, her parents decided it would be better to live closer a big hospital. Ellie stayed home. She visits every member of her family regularly and she absolutely loves seeing them, but she never feels quite right in their new settings. There's always a sense of relief when she returns to the familiar landscape of Hollow Falls.
With her parents' ranch style house paid off, she wasn't in desperate need of a high powered career. Instead, she set up a photography business online. Mostly, her business is in engagement and wedding photography, although she does senior portraits for the graduating high school students each spring. She keeps the business small and spends most ofher time with her greatest love, her dogs. Since she was a child, she loved animals, and since she has the house to herself now, she raises pups to be assistance dogs for the disabled.
Between the photography and the dog raising, her life seems like a dream. She won't admit it, but she's lonely. She wouldn't trade her quite life for a busy city one, but there certainly seems to be something missing. If she really lets herself face the facts, she might realize that she sets up too many barriers. New people seem like a threat to her quiet life and she's too afraid of screwing up her perfect set-up to actually try for something more.
