i've been looking in the mirror for so long
THAT I'VE COME TO BELIEVE MY SOUL'S ON THE OTHER SIDE
fletcher nathan gillespie | twenty | colin morgan
member group: student
occupation: part-time art student; unemployed
sexual orientation: gay
nationality: both of his parents are Irish
family: Helen Marie Curran (Gillespie); Patrick Gillespie – only child
appearance breakdown: Fletcher has long, gangly arms and legs, with knobbly bits everywhere and bones jutting out in places that to the normal eye wouldn’t look like they’d have bones in. His wrists are small and look like they could break, his fingers extremely elongated and spindly, and if a big enough gust of wind came along he’d probably fall over. Fletcher has hardly any meat on him, and smooth white skin, with little blemishes and little hair. He boasts brilliantly sharp collarbones, a long, spotless neck and a defined jawline and with the main trophy piece: his cheekbones. His eyes are a wintery blue, framed by long black eyelashes and the cutest little crow’s feet lines. Nicely shaped eyebrows are sometimes covered by his fringe, but more often than not they are on display. Fletcher’s head is dressed with the thickest, bushiest amount of raven black hair, that will sometimes go the way it is desired but more often than not will stick up in haphazard directions. The ends tend to curl, and Fletcher often decides to keep his mop of hair short, with a short, spiky fringe that shows off his face even more so.
personality breakdown: reserved | shy | intelligent | gentle | thoughtful | enigmatic
At first, it can be hard to understand Fletcher. He doesn’t like letting much out and he keeps to himself, which makes him a hard nut to crack. People struggle to give him the time of day because he doesn’t stand out or make a massive impression, which is exactly the sort of thing Fletcher is looking for. It’s not that he doesn’t want friends – it’s more that he knows how harmful they can be, and finds it very hard to trust others. He doesn’t like letting people in, letting people see his hurt and suffering. Let them see how broken he is. Fletcher is a very quiet person – he will only speak if he is spoken to first, and won’t dare make a horrible comment in order to fit in. Although this makes him a fabulous listener, it also means that people will be nonplussed and struggle to work him out. If, however, someone does manage to strike up a conversation with him, Fletcher can be a very big babbler. He can speak for hours about history, about insects, about the weirdest of subjects and also has an eclectic sense of humour. Once again, people might take this as the hint to give up with Fletcher, but that would be the worst thing to do if he’s already started to accept you. Fletcher loves being around people, he tries so, so hard when he realises that someone is worth it. One of Fletcher’s best traits is how thoughtful he is – he’ll do little things to help someone that most would overlook, such as make their books into a neat stack so it’s easier to carry, or prop the door open before you leave so that you won’t have to open it. He does little, cute endearing things that are very hard to notice, but this is him trying. He really is trying. Fletcher is a smart man. He understands a lot of things and can explain a complicated matter with ease; he works hard and tries his best when he is given a task to do. Also one to volunteer his help, Fletcher can often be found at the local elderly home, or pet shelter, or helping out some charity in some way or another. From growing up with nothing, he knows not to be materialistic and is constantly grateful for what he was. Fletcher will never expect anything of anyone. He is very enigmatic and introverted, but that doesn’t mean he hates people. Overall, he is just scared of being hurt again.

history basics:
- His mother Helen met his father, Patrick, in Belfast, Ireland, and fell in love. When they started to struggle to find work and somewhere comfortable to live, they moved overseas to stay with Helen’s parents in the states. They lived with her parents and were ready to leave and find their own place when they realised that Helen had fallen pregnant.
- After having Fletcher, they continued to live under their parents’ roof until they passed away, and inherited the house from them. Fletcher was therefore born in the town. Patrick was constantly made redundant and struggled to keep down one job, leading to a very insecure childhood for Fletcher.
- Fletcher realised he was gay when he was fourteen, particularly in love with his best friend Will, who he then lost his virginity to at sixteen. Will left the town the year after and the two haven’t spoken since. Patrick didn’t take well to Fletcher’s homosexuality and started physically abusing him.
- When Fletcher was eighteen, Helen had enough, filed for divorce and through her ex-husband out for abusing their son. Since, Helen has been working in a local superstore whilst Fletcher continued his studies.
