Michael headed into the park. Today the weather was really lovely out. He hated staying indoors for such a long period of time. It was just not something he preferred doing. His blond hair blew softly in the breeze. His blue eyes scanned around.
There were other people walking along the park paths. Some were walking their dogs, while others were merely sitting on the park benches enjoying the sping weather that had arrived. Michael was dressed in a pair of gray slacks and a white shirt. While he normally dressed casual, today he had to dress up formally. Michael worked as a detective at the local police department. It was hard work, and the hours were sometimes long. Not to mention this was his day off. He was heading home right now glad to have the rest of the afternoon off.
He cut through the park and found a bench that was unoccupied. He sat down and pulled out his cell phone. He checked his messages. His mother had called earlier but he had been in the meeting at that time. He would have to call her back later tonight. He slid the phone back into his pocket and just watched the people passing by. Above him, the sun peered out from behind fluffy white clouds. He inhaled deeply and just felt content and relaxed out here.

IsoldeI've got you all figured out, you meet everyone's eyes just to feel seen -------------------------------- Izzy strutted about the park with her hands shoved deep into the pockets of her black skinny jeans. She was grateful that she had the day off on such a bright and sunny day as this one. The young police officer whistled cheerfully as she strolled about, being in a great mood with the weather. The sun was warming her pale skin and she though maybe about laying out and tanning later this afternoon. As the light breeze blew her hair towards the west, she scanned the people in the park from behind her heart shaped sunglasses. She saw several people playing with their dogs or playing with their toddlers. It made her smile. Today, it made her smile anyway. Any other day and she might have just crossed her arms and sneered at the happy children and their mommies. Most of the time, seeing children and their parents, made her miss her own. But today, her mood was bright and happy; nothing could bring her down. Isolde tucked a lock of blond hair behind her ear as she spotted one of the benches with a young man on them. Tilting her head to the side and sliding her sunglasses down the bridge of her nose, she examined him carefully. He was sitting so it was hard to determine how tall he was, with blond hair. He was in a white shirt and gray slacks, relaxing on the bench. She thought she recognized him as a member of the police force, and made her way over to the bench to site beside him. Her mood, bright and happy, was still obnoxious in some ways. Instead of giving him a soft greeting, she said "Hey man! What's up?" There was a large smile on her face, as she made herself comfortable on the bench beside him. Even if she didn't end up knowing him, she could easily make a new friend or just an acquaintance. -------------------------------- You got designer shades just to hide your face, and you wear 'em around like you're cooler than me. -------------------------------- Word count ! 324 Notes ! Michael looked up and spied the young woman standing there. He had an amused expression on his face. He had recognized her from the police station. He quirked his eyebrow at her but kept his expression light and friendly.
"Not much. Just enjoying the lovely weather. What brings you out to the park?" he inquired, scooting over and motioning to the empty spot beside him, inviting her to sit. She certainly seemed cheerful, which was good.
He watched a few children and their mothers strolling about. One woman had to chase after her son as he'd gotten a hold of her keys and they jingled as he ran laughing. A pang hit his chest at that moment. His memory flashed him an image of Elizabeth. He shut his eyes, trying not to think back to that horrible moment. Those kidnappers were going to pay if it was the last thing he did. The bastards got away and they were never caught. If they do get caught, they would most certainly be convicted of second degree murder and kidnapping on top of that.
Michael's eyes opened and he realized he was still talking to the young woman.
"You work at the station right? An officer? My names Michael. I'm a detective there" he offered softly waiting for the young woman to reply

IsoldeI've got you all figured out, you meet everyone's eyes just to feel seen -------------------------------- Isolde took the spot he had made for her as he said, "Not much. Just enjoying the lovely weather. What brings you out to the park?" She gave an innocent shrug, "Oh nothing. The same as you I suppose. The weather is marvelous." That much was true. She hadn't really had a reason as for why she came to the park. But, she was, in truth, always looking for some sort of trouble.... maybe not trouble. More like, always looking for someone to mess with or talk to. Although, she didn't clue herself in on that fact. She wasn't aware of the fact she was an attention seeker. Her eyes were straight ahead, watching the families play through the dark lenses of her sunglasses, so she missed his facial expression. What alerted her was how soft his tone was when he asked "You work at the station right? An officer? My names Michael. I'm a detective there." Izzy nodded, answering with, "Yup. That's me. I'm Isolde. But you can call me Izzy. It's nice to meet you Michael." Her smile was warm and open and friendly. She wasn't feeling a whole lot like her usual bad ass self. -------------------------------- You got designer shades just to hide your face, and you wear 'em around like you're cooler than me. -------------------------------- Word count ! forgot to count >.< Notes ! Michael smiled at Isolde.
"It's nice to meet you" he said extending his hand out offering for her to shake. A gentle breeze ruffled his blond hair a bit but he kept his blue eyes on hers.
"How do you like working as an officer?" He asked her curiously. "Working as a detective is interesting too. You get to meet everyone and everyone. Of course it has its down side too" he added.
Michael leaned back against the bench and tucked his ankle over his thigh. He looked at her.
"You live nearby?" he asked her.
Michael lived fairly close by the park, but not too close. His car was parked a few spots down. The house was a split ranch and he loved it. It was large and roomy but also lonely. Michael shook his head and turned his attention back to Isolde.
"Does your family live near here too?" he implied and shifted his weight on the bench. He looked up at a couple walking side by side holding hands and laughing about something. He smiled and turned his blue eyes onto the young woman next to him.
