Michael leaned against one of the lamp posts. he was dressed in a white long sleeved shirt and a tan satin vest with black slacks. Over that he had a black duster coat. On his head was a black cowboy hat. His blue eyes scanned around. The fling was exciting. It was kinda cool seeing everyone dressed in period clothing. A little weird considering there were cars parked, but cool none the less. He crossed his arms over his chest. He was just watching everyone come into the town square.
The sun was peeking out from behind a few fluffy white clouds. Rays of sun reflected off of car windows and buildings. The air smelled of spring, which was mixed of flowers, earth and just that fresh clean scent. A gentle breeze whisked the hem of his duster against his calves. It was a good day for the fling. Perfect weather even. He had pinned a sheriff's badge to his vest and he had a leather gun holster around his waist where his gun was nestled comfortably in the holster. It was his real gun incase trouble started. He didn't think so but he was always prepared incase.

She hated being around big crowds, and hated interacting with people. In part it was a paranoia of what ways the people would kill her that sprouted from unknown origins. But it was also the fact that she found she simply couldn't stand the traits of certain people and would rather not be around them. Like whores for example. And not just the literal prostitutes. But also the people who seemed to only have a mind for sex and were easier than pushing a hot knife through butter. Where was the dignity? But enough ranting. Normally she didn't come into town except to pick up groceries or for various legal or business matters, but today was an exception. Today was the Founders' Fling, a gathering of the townsfolk in period attire to celebrate the founding of the city.
She'd joined the tradition when she settled a few years back, using it as an ice-breaker and a way to advertise her horses. As time went on she began to simply enjoy the jovial atmosphere, and now attended just for the fun of it all. "I bet you're as excited as a coyote in a chicken pen." She said to the dutch shepherd that sat beside her in the cab of the green truck. The dog wagged her tail furiously. She stuck her head out the window and sniffed eagerly at those they passed on the sidewalk. Crow laughed. She downshifted and let the clutch out to smoothly slow the truck down as she pulled into an available parking space on the grocery store lot. "We've been around the city twice and this seems to be the only available spot. Looks like we're in for a walk, Khan." At the word 'walk' the dog turned to face her in excitement.
Though most, if not all, of the girls at the Fling were wearing period dress of the upper class, Crow chose a more humble outfit. She wore a pair of faded blue-jeans, an off-white shirt beneath a dark tan vest, and a cowboy hat with a red-tailed hawk feather in the rim. Her boots were typical cowboy boots, black in color with a silver trim. To top it all off she even had her riding spurs on. They jingled their signature metallic jingle as she stepped out of her truck and invited Khan down with her. Though normally she'd put her dog on a leash when in town, she had decided long ago that it looked better if she simply put a bandana on over Khan's collar and kept a close eye. The dog was extremely well-trained, at the level of a police dog, but she was still an animal and Crow hooked a lasso on her shoulder just in case. It helped her outfit anyway.
A sharp whistle. "Come on, Khan, let's go meet and greet!" Crow locked the truck and stuffed the keys in her pocket. She stuffed her cell phone into her left butt pocket and her wallet in the right, and headed off toward the party.

Standing in front of her mirror she sighed softly and closed her eyes. This was going to be a very interesting day. As she finished getting ready for the party she placed her necklace around her neck and closed her eyes. It had been one of the only family heirlooms she had found and kept from her home. Touching it she closed her eyes and swallowed the lump in her throat then heard giggling behind her and she quickly turned around and smiled at the baby boy that was giggling at her. ”Hey little one. What are you laughing at?“she said as she tickled his belly.
Waylen giggled up at his mom as she tickled him. Holding her arm he gave her kisses and smiled up at him. ”Let‘s get you dressed. Shall we?“she said as she dressed her little boy in period clothes. She was taking a risk by doing this but she wanted to take up out. Finally wiggling him into the clothes she picked him up and held him close. ”I love you Waylen.“she said softly before moving downstairs to the living where her brand new baby carriage was. It was old fashion and fit the period of the party plus she could use it any time she wanted.
As he played with her hat she smiled then placed him in the carriage and gave him a little hat to wear and he tugged on it. Grabbing his little stuffed dog she placed it in the carriage and tucked in the little boy. Breathing in she grabbed her parasol and rested the hook on the handle and then opened the door and proceeded to lock the house with her keys and headed toward the town square. Smiling she appeared and looked around. This was her second year witnessing this because it hadn’t been long after she arrived that the last fling occurred.
Seeing the children running around playing with old fashion toys, Peyton looked down at her baby see him play with the his dog and he smiled up at his mother. Soon they arrived in the middle of the chaos and he held out his dog to his mother. Peyton smile as she reached into the carriage she made small noises to entertain him with his doggy. He giggled at her as she played with his doggy.
